Vincent Leroy is a Parisian-based French artist.
Born and brought up in rural Normandy, at an early age he developed a taste for experimentation using the odds and sods of everyday life as his building material. After technical training, he moved to Paris where he studied industrial design at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle. During his studies, he produced his first kinetic works. These were immediately spotted and exhibited in various Parisian galleries & museums. After graduation, he collaborated as a designer with various companies and architects and also set up his own art studio in Paris.
Hybrid, Vincent Leroy’s work oscillates between the real and the virtual, the natural and the artificial, drawing its inspiration from both natures, which often sites his work, and from the digital world.
Whether it’s kinetic sculptures, immersive installations, or monumental works, movement is almost always Vincent Leroy’s raw material. The kind of movement that inspires life, amazement, and a permanently shifting viewpoint. A movement that the artist likes to slow down, revealing fluidity, and flexibility, uncovering and magnifying the hidden gaps that often remain unnoticed in today’s frenetic race for speed and performance. Through his choice of rhythm, the artist proposes a shift in the way of seeing and observing.
Through a subtle mix of poetry and technology, the artist plays with perceptions and proposes a detachment from reality. Ripples, reflections, superimpositions, the play of light, and transparencies plunge the visitor into another dimension, light and airy, dreamlike and contemplative. His installations propose not only visual experiences but more importantly ones that touch the body and the emotions.
